The NSI is the leading approvals and certification body that inspects companies providing home security, business security and fire safety services.

Challenge

NSI had commissioned a family of new websites. The sites were based around a respected, commercial, industry weight Web Content Management System. Following implementation and a protracted snagging activity the sites were still not able to meet the organisations needs in terms of browser compatibility, accessibility and Search Engine Optimisation requirements.

CMS Editors were finding their system difficult to use and an obstacle to them carrying out updates while also preventing Marketing Staff from effectively promoting the organisation online.

There were also performance and reliability issues. The organisation had new business needs and needed new functionality developed to support these needs. Before embarking on these new developments it was vital to rectify problems with the existing implementation.

Fusion Workshop were initially engaged to provide a comprehensive audit of the NSI family of websites and their Immediacy CMS implementation. The audit covered “reach” factors such as bandwidth efficiency, browser compatibility, accessibility and usability. It also covered data security and web application vulnerability issues.

Outcome

The Audit Report was well received and provided a clear way forward with a project plan for a short “stabilisation” project which would involve reworking templates, rationalising the Web CMS implementation and configuring it appropriately.

Results

Over just two weeks all issues were effectively resolved providing NSI with a Web CMS implementation that was efficient, easy to use, reliable and provided a good foundation platform for further development. The sites powered by the CMS were now accessible (AA), compliant and able to support the organisation’s online marketing activities. Site managers were able to be confident that their sites were now secure, available and not susceptible to common web application vulnerabilities.
