First impressions on the launch of Google Instant and what it could mean for website owners.

Google have announced a new feature on their search pages: instant search. We've all grown familiar with the suggestions that appear as you start typing your keywords, but now Google automatically updates the search results page with every character you type!

Google Instant goes live in the next week and on mobile devices by during the autumn. http://www.google.co.uk/ will be among the first of the Google websites to include the new feature. At the moment it is only available for people logged into their Google Account. The claim is that it will provide searchers with faster searches and help you find what you are looking for more easily.

The first reports from users are mixed, there is a lot changing on the page as you type your search queries and it isn't always clear where to look. Some people have switched the feature off after experimenting with it, other are sticking with it to try it out for a while longer or are simply loving it.
